Q: You’re a stay-at-home mom? Don’t you feel like your college degree was a waste? Don’t you miss the THRILL of being a career-woman?
A: When I found out I was pregnant I was 2 months into my first “real grown-up” job – teaching high school biology. I was terrified (I’m pregnant & have no idea what I’m doing!!!!!) & also had a lot of misgivings about “staying home” – Would I be depressed? Would I get bored??? Would I forget all the valuable skills that college taught me? Would I be hire-able if I ever wanted to go back to teaching? I’m sure that the answers to these questions are as different as the women answering them – but for me, the answer was very clear when I met my daughter for the first time. I’m very thankful that we can afford for me to stay home at this season in our marriage & I love every (fun, messy, hilarious, tired, grumpy, snuggly, bored) minute of it.
