Handmade Holidays

Here is a quick peek into my attempts at a handmade Christmas this year… I was a little off my game (I didn’t even do Christmas cards! boo!) but the few things I did turned out better than I expected! Enjoy & be inspired!

CRAFT: “Snowy” Tea Light Holders
I actually made these little guys in the summer time (pinterest, I’m sure…) but I had them down in the basement & sort of forgot about them. Don’t they look like they’re covered in snow? You can never have too many candles at Christmas – Season of Lights, people!

What you need:
– Jars (jelly, applesauce, you pick!)
– Jute, twine, yarn, etc.
– White spray paint
– Tea lights
Wrap the twine or yarn around the jars at random. Lightly coat with the spray paint (less paint gives the appearance of snow), allow the paint to dry overnight and fill with your tea lights – enjoy!

PATTERN: Floppy Bunny
This little guy was a pinterest find & I just have to say – he is SO darn cute! He was a little bigger than I thought he’d be but he is just floppy & perfect. Norah carried him around the house all Christmas morning. You can find the free pattern here & it’s very very easy – believe me, I am a beginner-crocheter.

RECIPE: Chai Tea Latte Mix
This recipe makes a LOT of chai – so be prepared to give it as gifts! I used jelly jars with cute Christmas paper covering the lid & also found some cute little glass jars to store the rest. Β Just mix all of the ingredients together – you can pulse them in a food processor if you want it mixed very finely (I was too lazy this year) and just package it as is. You could tie a ribbon around it with the recipe & instructions to mix a few tablespoons with hot water to taste. You could also gift it with a cute mug or some homemade cookies. Delicious!

Chai Tea Ingredients:
1 C. dry milk powder
1 C. powdered non-dairy creamer
1 C. french vanilla powdered creamer
2 C. sugar
1 1/2 C. instant tea powder
2 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground cardamom

May your New Year be filled with adventure & intention! Peace to you & yours!

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ the bunny was definitely my favorite!

On another note: please come visit me! πŸ™‚ …or maybe I’ll have to make a road trip to Columbus in the spring before baby #2 πŸ˜‰

  1. wow Lindsay, your little girl has gotten big! I like your pretty candle idea-have seen it with rubber bands but the twine idea works, too! Thanks for stopping by and “peeking” inside my house-I have a few tricks for keeping a nice house with toddlers (though of course it doesn’t always look as nice as in the pics!) -I think I will do a post about that sometime:) Happy New Year!
